Coco Lux Skin

Coco Lux Skin was created by Alia Lux and inspired by her passion for a natural lifestyle. Alia started making her own skin creams in her early 20s, using base butters and oils like shea butter, coconut oil, and cocoa butter. She started adding in other plant based, active ingredients and essential oils creating different formulas and scents. Friends and family started requesting her to make creams for them and then they would also purchase it for their own friends and families. They kept coming back for more which motivated Alia to create an aesthetic and label which birthed Coco Lux Skin. It is an all natural product line that is incredibly hydrating, nourishing, and moisturizing.

As a wellness and health enthusiast, along with her active lifestyle as a dancer and fitness specialist, Alia has always been inspired to stay in tune to nature's healing herbs and plants. She most recently has added a new product to Coco Lux that incorporates the healing properties of CBD (hemp extract), combined with OptiMSM™, aloe, organic coconut oil, soothing arnica and chamomile, with warming black pepper and cinnamon oils, and cooling eucalyptus, peppermint and spearmint oils, plus so much more. Tired muscles and joints get eased and relaxed, while skin feels more soft and supple.

Alia is continuing to expand Coco Lux and create new formulas and products as she is moving away from the home made production and crossing over into the market along with following the FDA guidelines. She is currently working with a local, Portland based lab to help formulate her products, with the goal to stay true to her original vision of combining ingredients in their most natural form with no harsh chemicals, additives, and perfumes. Her new product line will be available for order Spring 2020.

Alia still has a customer base that prefers the homemade version of Coco Lux. If has a shorter shelf life but the consistency and absorbency of the product, along with the glorious glow it creates, makes it a specialty product that Alia would like to continue to offer her loyal and local clients.

INGREDIENTS (hOMEMADE):

100% refined shea butter from Ghana, organic coconut oil, organic coconut water, cocoa butter, organic almond oil, aloe vera extract, organic honey(Oregon), vitamin E oil, organic tahitian vanilla extract, neem oil, blend of essential oils.

Benefits

1. 100% Shea butter from Ghana: shea butter is shea-better for your skin

Shea butter is high in Vitamins A, E, and F. Vitamins A and E combined help keep skin clear and healthy, helps repair already damaged skin, and helps prevent premature wrinkles and fine lines. Vitamin F, aka Linoleic Acid, is essential to the growth and maintenance of healthy skin. There is a high level of unsaponifiables within shea butter which gives it the power to treat conditions like dry skin, eczema, burns, blemishes, skin allergies and more. Another great benefit of shea butter is that it can easily penetrate the skin which allows the skin to breathe and not clog pores. It also contains high levels of cinnamic acid which is a natural sun screen giving a degree of protection from UVB rays. It is anit-inflammatory!!!

2. Coconut Water: Give your skin a drink with some coconut wata!

Coconut water has incredible hydrating qualities and is highly effective as a cleanser. A lot of people are not adequately hydrated, which has extremely adverse affects on the skin (dryness, itchy patches, dark circles, fine lines). Coconut water naturally moisturizes without adding excess oil.

3. Coconut Oil: With all these AMAZING coco-nutty benefits of coconut oil on skin we could not leave this ingredient out.

It has been found that coconut oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin. The triglycerides in the oil attract protein molecules, ensuring timely repair of the collagen layer. Coconut oil can prevent premature aging by acting as a physical barrier to environmental pollutants, while sealing in skin moisture. It keeps the skin smooth and supple by promoting collagen formation. The antibacterial properties of coconut oil protect the skin from potential pathogens. More importantly, it can reduce the risk of bacterial skin conditions and acne. It is mainly the lauric acid in the coconut oil that acts as the antibacterial agent. The only other natural substance that is this high in lauric acid happens to be breast milk. Coconut oil offers some protection against solar radiation. With SPF 4, coconut oil may not keep you safe during a full day on the beach, but you can escape the effects of solar radiation during brief periods out in the sun. The UV rays of the sun can damage the skin cells, which triggers the formation of a large number of free radicals that can do damage to cellular DNA. Coconut oil's antioxidant action reduces oxidative damage. It has a soothing effect on burnt skin and goes to work right away to reduce inflammation, pain, and damage.

4. Cocoa butter: Coco Lux loves cocoa butter

Cocoa butter is also high in antioxidants, which help fight off free-radical damage to the skin. Cocoa butter is also anti-inflammatory, which is another way it helps your skin resist the ravages of time. A stretch mark and scar reducer: Many women claim that the regular use of cocoa butter keeps stretch marks at bay during and after pregnancy.Cocoa butter is also reputed to help heal scars. A deep moisturizer,Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids and hydrates the skin deeply. It contains oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, all of which nourish the skin.

5. Almond oil: A natural oil that gives the natural glow

Almond oil is mild and has hypoallergenic properties which makes it great for sensitive skin. It is rich in Vitamin E which is a very effective anti-oxidant. One of the best characteristics of almond oil is that it is very light texturally. This makes it easy for the body to absorb it as well as for the oil to penetrate skin deeply. Almond oil is rich in Vitamin A which is known to reduce acne flare-ups.

6. Aloe Vera: Aloe vera has been healing since the ancient Egyptians called it the “plant of immortality.”

Aloe Vera helps with sunburn through its powerful healing activity at the epithelial level of the skin. It acts as a protective layer on the skin and helps replenish its moisture. Because of its nutritional qualities and antioxidant properties, the skin heals quicker with minimal scarring. Aloe moisturizes the skin without giving it a greasy feel, so it`s perfect for anyone with an oily skin complexion or enlarged pores. Aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Giberellin in Aloe Vera acts as a growth hormone stimulating the growth of new cells. Aloe is soothing and can reduce skin inflammations, blistering and itchiness, while helping the skin to heal more rapidly. Additionally, in Ayurvedic medicine, Aloe is used to effectively heal chronic skin problems, such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. Aloe also fights against aging. Aloe leaves contain a plethora of antioxidants including, beta carotene, vitamin C and E that can help improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.

7. Vitamin E Oil: Get that Vitamin E-XTRA!!

Vitamin E is a nutrient to the skin. It has basic antioxidant properties that everyone needs. It is unavoidable that we are all suffering from environmental stress. Vitamin E oil protects the skin against cell mutation in the sun and pollution. It’s also an anti-inflammatory, so it calms and hydrates sensitive skin.

8. Honey: Get that honey glow!

The enzymes present in honey enables it to easily seep into the skin while conditioning it and softening it from deep within. Honey contains antioxidants, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties. Honey is also naturally hydrating with a natural humecant, which means that it draws moisture into the skin from air. This not only keeps your skin soft and healthy, but also makes sure less of a scar is left behind. It minimizes any inflammation and helps heal the skin faster. Additionally, the anti-oxidants present in honey that are anti-aging also help repair damaged skin.

9. Neem Oil: Improve your skin's condition.

Neem oil is a highly effective skin conditioner and is excellent to use on areas of the skin that tend to be more dry. Neem oil creates a thin barrier on top of the skin and locks moisture in, leaving skin smooth and supple. Neem oil is also rich in Vitamin E and Essential Fatty Acids. It can effectively control the inflammation and irritation caused by conditions like eczema and psoriasis, helping to alleviate redness, swelling and heal cuts, breaks and abrasions in the skin. Neem contains nimbidin & nimbin, that have shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Being rich in Vitamin E, neem oil creates a thin layer to protect the skin and reduce moisture loss and being a natural pain killer (analgesic), neem oil can provide immediate relieve from discomforting skin irritation. This can reduce itching and scratching and actually prevent skin irritations.

10. Vanilla Extract: Give your skin some vanilla flavor!

Vanilla has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to soothe and calm irritated skin. It's anti-bacterial. Vanilla has also been used to reduce skin infections and in wound healing. Vanilla Bean Extract contains Vanillin, a polyphenol with powerful anti-oxidant properties. Vanilla extract also contains B vitamins, including niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, and pantothenic acid.  All of which help to maintain healthy looking skin.

Last but not least, each batch of Coco Lux has a pleasant blend of essential oils combined in secret to give you a light scent, yummy enough to eat.
